Joseph Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha, has withdrawn her divorce petition. Sangeetha informed the court that she no longer wishes to pursue the case.
Sangeetha, the wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, has withdrawn her divorce petition. She withdrew the petition filed at the Chengalpattu court, stating that she did not want to proceed with the matter any further.
She had previously stated that she was aware of an alleged relationship between Vijay and an actress—something she discovered in 2021—and had expressed a desire to separate from him.
Court dismisses the case
Following this, the Chengalpattu court dismissed the divorce case. Sangeetha appeared before the court via video conferencing and informed the judge of her decision.

News regarding Sangeetha emerged amidst discussions about an out-of-court settlement, with claims that Chief Minister Joseph Vijay had agreed to pay ₹240 crore in maintenance to Sangeetha and their children.
A court hearing was scheduled for today.
The hearing had been adjourned multiple times previously due to the couple’s absence. The next hearing had been set for August 7.
What did Sangeetha claim?
In her petition, Sangeetha sought a divorce from Joseph Vijay citing irreconcilable differences. She also requested maintenance and permission to continue residing in the couple’s home in Neelankarai, Chennai.
Sangeetha further claimed in her petition that the couple had been living apart for five years.
Vijay had traveled abroad several times with the alleged actress and posted about it on social media, causing embarrassment to Sangeetha and their children.
Vijay and Sangeetha entered into an interfaith marriage in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Chennai on August 25, 1999.
