A political storm has once again arisen over the Narada sting scandal in West Bengal. On Monday morning, while the CBI arrested two Trinamool Congress ministers, Farhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee, an MLA Madan Mitra and a former minister Shobhan Chatterjee, in the evening, the special CBI court released the four leaders on interim bail. The CBI had demanded that he be sent to custody for 14 days. Earlier, TMC leaders held demonstrations at several places, breaking the lockdown when the leaders were arrested. Even Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee offered arrest.

The CBI office is located in the Nizam Palace. Hundreds of Trinamool Congress supporters gathered here in violation of the lockdown. They broke the barricades planted in front of the main gate and shouted slogans against the NDA government at the center. Some protesters pelted stones and threw plastic bottles at security personnel stationed here in large numbers. Apart from this, protesters burnt tires and blocked roads in other areas including Hooghly, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas districts.

The incident took place in 2014, when the four accused were ministers
Earlier, West Bengal law minister reached Special Court of CBI against the arrest of former party leader Shobhan Chatterjee along with Trinamool Congress leaders Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and Madan Mitra at around 3.30 pm. The CBI had approached West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to seek approval to prosecute Hakim, Mukherjee, Mitra and Chatterjee. They were all ministers at the time of the alleged crime in 2014. Dhankar had approved the prosecution of the four leaders, after which the CBI is preparing its charge sheet and all of them were arrested.

Mamta reached CBI office at 11 am
In the Narada sting case, the CBI arrested state ministers Farhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee and Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra as well as former party leader Shobhan Chatterjee from Kolkata. Political leaders were caught on camera allegedly taking bribes in a sting operation. Sources in the central agency said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had reached the CBI office at around 11 am and told our officials that if she wanted her to leave Nizam Palace, she would have to be arrested.

BJP’s revenge action after defeat: TMC
Earlier, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed that the CBI’s action was a vengeful step and the result of BJP’s defeat in the West Bengal assembly elections. He said that the BJP is still unable to accept defeat in the election even after doing every effort to win the election. This is a condemnable action. He said that while the state is dealing with the situation of Kovid, they are trying to create disturbances in this way.
