Ways to increase energy cooperation discussed in the first edition of Arab India Energy Forum

New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI) Various modalities to enhance bilateral energy cooperation and boost power trade in the region were discussed at the first edition of the India-Arab Energy Forum that concluded on Wednesday.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that this event was organized through virtual medium under the co-chairmanship of India and the Kingdom of Morocco.

The inaugural session of the event was addressed by RK Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Aziz Rabba, Minister of Energy and Mines of Morocco and Kamal Hassan Ali, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs of the Arab League.

“The possibilities and challenges of cooperation in the fields of energy transit, intra-regional power trade, hydrocarbon and nuclear power generation were discussed,” the Ministry of External Affairs said.

“During this, many other issues including exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices in the field of energy efficiency programs for different economic sectors, accelerated development of new and renewable energy and safe nuclear power generation were discussed,” it said. ”
