Dubai
The Ministry of Human Resources of the United Arab Emirates has announced that the ‘break’ rule designed to provide relief to workers in the summer will end on 15 September. This rule was made to give some rest in the middle of the day to the laborers working in the scorching heat. There was a provision of fine of Rs 10 lakh for violation. After three months it will now be abolished.

Rules applicable for three months
According to the report of Khaleej Times, the ministry had implemented the rule from June 15, under which it was forbidden to work outside wages between 12:30 pm and 3 pm in the afternoon. Such leave is given every year so that the laborers working in the scorching sun can get some relief and take care of them during the summer season. Along with the mandatory breaks, awareness campaigns were also conducted.

Conditional exemption to some companies
This year it was necessary to do this to take care of the health of the workers amid the heat stroke as well as the corona virus epidemic. Under this ban, only such companies were allowed to work during the day which technically needed it. However, for this also certain conditions were applicable. The workers were to be given clean, cold drinking water. Apart from this, things like salt, lemon were also being provided.

penalty for violation
For this, both the local administration and the private sector worked together on the plan. Under the new rule, working hours were also limited to 8 and payment for overtime was also made mandatory. Under this, a fine of 5 thousand dirhams was fixed on the company per worker and the maximum fine for employing more workers was fixed at 50 thousand.
