Travelers from Europe, the United States and Mexico lead visits to Peru | News

The president of the Peruvian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Apavit), Ricardo Acosta, reported today that most of the foreign travelers who visit us for tourism come from Europe, the United States and Mexico.

He stressed that Spain and Germany stand out from the European bloc as countries of origin of tourists to Peru.

“They arrive in Lima but most of these international travelers go to our main tourist attraction, which is Machu Picchu,” he told the Andean Agency.

He commented that another group of tourists prefers jungle destinations where Tarapoto stands out for its tourist attractions and good weather.

Acosta added that a destination like Arequipa attracts an important group of foreign travelers for its varied cuisine, in addition to its attractions as a city.

“One of the main attributes of our country is recognition for its rich and varied cuisine. In addition to its flavor, the dishes are being better prepared and presented in the regions every time ”, he asserted.

However, the Apavit president acknowledged that at the moment the flow of foreign tourists only represents 10% of what was registered in the pre-ndemic.

“It is evident that inbound tourism is being severely affected by the pandemic and sanitary restrictions,” he said.
