tata motors plans to set up vehicle junk center under franchise model
The company’s first center is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of the next financial year. A top company official gave this information on Wednesday.
The automaker had earlier this year entered into an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up a vehicle scrapping center in Ahmedabad.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director and President, Tata Motors (Commercial Vehicles), said in a press conference via video conference, “Around 25,000 trucks are converted into scrap every year in the country and we do not have proper systematic facilities for the same. Now we have We have tied up with a European expert and with his help we have built a model junkyard.”
He said that the company has started sending letters of intent (LOIs) to the franchisee partners for setting up the scrap centers.
He said that 36,000 passenger and commercial vehicles would be converted into scrap in a year at the scrap center to be set up in Ahmedabad.
