Tata Motors expects to stick to policy of promoting local production of electric vehicles
The auto company plans to add 10 new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to its domestic product portfolio by 2025. The company said that it expects the government’s policy to continue in line with the policy already introduced by it for this segment.
The company’s Chief Financial Officer P Balaji told reporters via video conference, “From Tata Motors’ point of view, the Government of India, through the FAME 2 incentives, has very clearly laid down the eligibility criteria for the direction in which the adoption of EVs takes place. It has always emphasized on affordable EVs as well as localization according to phased manufacturing plans.”
He said, “I am sure that the government will continue to work according to that particular thinking and principles of FAME 2. We are all working in this direction.”
