Target to increase the number of Janaushadhi centers to 10000 by March 2024

Delhi, June 14 (PTI) The Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, today inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra at Pragpur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh through video conference.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government has set a target of increasing the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) to 10,000 by March 2024. The number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras has increased to 7,836 as on June 11, 2021.

Mandaviya said that Jan Aushadhi Kendras have realized the Prime Minister’s dream of providing quality generic medicine at affordable rates. These centers will help the local people to get quality medicines at affordable prices.

The Union Minister said that the role of Jan Aushadhi Kendras has become very important in special situations like the Kovid-19 epidemic. There are 7,836 Jan Aushadhi Kendras working day and night across the country to serve the poor and needy.

Shri Mandaviya informed that many Jan Aushadhi Kendras have taken up the task of distributing ration kits, cooked food, free medicines etc. to the needy people during the lockdown period, apart from selling affordable and quality generic medicines.

Mandaviya said that similarly, a total of 66 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened all over Himachal Pradesh.
