Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Legislative Assembly and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. During this, political issues related to the state were discussed. The meeting lasted about 45 minutes. The official met Modi at the Prime Minister’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Earlier on Tuesday, he had met many top party leaders including BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
After the meeting, the official tweeted and said, ‘Had a chance to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seek blessings. I thank him for giving me his valuable time. I had a detailed conversation with him for about 45 minutes on Bengal and various other political issues. I sought his support and guidance for the development of West Bengal.
‘Political violence should stop in Bengal’
Later talking to reporters, Suvendu Adhikari said that during his meeting from BJP President to Prime Minister, he apprised him of the situation in the state and said that political violence should stop. He said, ‘The Chief Minister of West Bengal should also take care of the dignity of the Constitution. So far 42 workers have died in the post-poll violence. We are committed to protect BJP workers. The official later also met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.

After meeting Tomar, Suvendu Adhikari tweeted, “Discussed with Agriculture Minister on widespread corruption in MGNREGA in Bengal. He has assured proper action on my complaints. The officer met top BJP leaders, including the Prime Minister, here for the first time since becoming the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal. In the assembly elections held in March-April this year in West Bengal, Adhikari had defeated Trinamool Congress chief and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a tight contest in Nandigram seat.
Officers had joined BJP before the elections
The official met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda on Tuesday and discussed several issues related to the state. Adhikari was a minister in the previous West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee, but joined the BJP just ahead of the assembly elections in the state this year.
