Sonpur mela 2021: sonpur mela 2021 of vaishali will not be organized due to coronavirus in bihar

Patna
The month-long Hariharnath Kshetra Mela, commonly known as ‘Sonepur Mela’, has been canceled for the second consecutive year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The fair held on the banks of river Gandak near Sonpur in November-December every year is also known for trading of animals since ancient times.

Sonpur fair will not be held this time too
Tourism Minister Narayan Prasad said that in view of the possibility of a third wave of COVID-19, the state government has not given permission to organize the Sonepur Mela, which attracts huge crowds. “Even though the restrictions have been eased, large cultural gatherings are not allowed,” he said. However, considering the importance of the fair and the sentiments behind it, prayer services and rituals will be conducted while maintaining social distancing and other safety protocols.
