Remove toll plazas throughout the year, install GPS Tracker for tolls; Nitin Gadkari’s big announcement in Lok Sabha
New Delhi: All toll plazas in the country will be closed in the coming year, now GPS system will be installed in every vehicle and toll will be collected on that basis, said Union Roads, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. . He was speaking while answering a question posed by an MP during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha. Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said, "These previous governments unjustly set up toll plazas in many places, in many cities. On that basis, toll theft was rampant. Therefore, all toll plazas in the country will be closed in the coming year. Now technology will be used for toll collection and GPS Tracker will be installed in every vehicle. Therefore, the same toll will now be levied for the same amount of travel."
Earlier in December, Gadkari had said that "In the next two years, India will be free from tolls and obstacles. The government will introduce GPS (Global Positioning System) system for this. Over the next two years, vehicle tolls will be deducted from your linked bank account. Work is underway on a GPS system for tolls, in which tolls will be automatically deducted from the bank account from the distance traveled."”With the help of the Russian government, we will soon complete the work on the GPS system,” Gadkari said. "India will be completely toll-free in two years after the implementation of this scheme. At this time all commercial vehicles in the country are equipped with tracking system. At the same time the government will work expeditiously to install GPS system technology in all older vehicles. Over the past year, the central government has made fastags mandatory at toll plazas for free movement of vehicles. Making Fastag mandatory has saved fuel and reduced pollution."
Gadkari’s announcement will now free passengers from the long queues at toll plazas. It also saves travel time. & Nbsp;
