reason of kozhikode plane crash: …

New Delhi
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Saturday released the investigation report into the plane crash at Kozhikode airport in August last year. At least 20 people were killed and many others were injured in this accident. The 257-page report says non-compliance with standard operating procedure on the part of the pilot could be a possible reason, but the role of systemic failures as a contributing factor cannot be overlooked.

On August 7 last year, a B737-800 aircraft of Air India Express had crashed at the Kozhikode airport in Kerala. The plane was coming from Dubai and veered off the runway at Kozhikode airport and then broke into pieces. 190 people were on board the plane and at least 20 people, including the two pilots, were killed and several others were injured.

“The probable cause of the accident was non-compliance of SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) by the PF (Pilot Flying),” says the report, released almost a year after the accident.

According to the report, the pilot continued the unstable approach and landed ahead of the take-off zone, landing halfway on the runway, despite the pilot monitoring (PM) telling the aircraft to ‘go around’.
