Mumbai, Jun 9 (PTI) The Reserve Bank on Wednesday said the government has extended the tenure of its deputy governor Mahesh Kumar Jain by two years.

In a statement, the Reserve Bank said, β€œThe Central Government, after the expiry of the current term of Shri Mahesh Kumar Jain on June 21, 2021, for a period of two years with effect from June 22, 2021 or till further orders, whichever is earlier.” First will be re-appointed deputy governor.”

Jain was appointed deputy governor for a three-year term in June 2018.

Prior to his appointment to the Reserve Bank, he was the Managing Director of IDBI Bank.

Michael Patra, M Rajeswara Rao and T Rabishankar are the other three serving deputy governors of the Reserve Bank.
