However, the CBI acted immediately. In which three touts who got papers in fake names were arrested. Due to this there was a delay in the declaration of the result.
2 lakh less students joined
A total of 7.32 lakh students had registered in the fourth phase of JEE-Main examination. Whereas last year 9.34 lakh students were registered. In this way, 2 lakh less examinees have given the paper as compared to last year. However, in view of the Corona epidemic, NTA gave relief. The number of questions in JEE-Main Paper-I was reduced from 90 to 75 and to 300 marks instead of 360 marks.
Now apply for JEE-Advanced
Two and a half lakh qualified students in JEE-Main will appear for JEE-Advanced. For this, the online application process has started at IIT Kharagpur. This year due to Corona, NTA has declared the best score on percentile basis, giving relaxation in the process of entrance exam. By which students securing 75-99 percentile will also be able to take admission in B.Tech courses of 31 NITs. Students scoring 99-100 percentile will try to get admission in 23 IITs through JEE-Advanced.
Opportunity for those who did not compete in JEE-Main
The online counseling process through the Joint Seat Allotment Authority (JoSA) will be started soon. In which 23 thousand 506 seats of 31 NITs of the country, 5 thousand 643 seats of 28 triple IT and 5 thousand 620 seats of more than 25 centrally funded institutions will be enrolled. Apart from this, seats for various UG courses will be allotted on the basis of All India Rank for a total of more than 50 thousand 822 seats in more than 107 national level institutes. There are 1,246 major engineering colleges in the country, apart from government institutions, which do not participate in JoSAA counseling but give admission on the basis of JEE-Main scores.
