rahul gandhi news today: Parliament Winter Session: The issue of Kovid death will resonate in the Parliament in the winter session, Rahul Gandhi tells his intentions to the Modi government – tell the correct figures of death from kovid and the government should give a compensation of four lakh rupees to every affected family.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made up his mind to surround the Narendra Modi government on the issue of deaths due to Kovid-19 during the winter session of Parliament. According to sources, a day before the start of the winter session, Rahul Gandhi can put this issue in front of the country through a press conference.
Through this video, Rahul Gandhi raised questions on the ‘Gujarat model’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and asked what type of government is this? The Congress leader said, ‘Gujarat model is discussed a lot. The families we have spoken to say that during Kovid they did not get beds, oxygen and ventilators were not available in the hospital.
He questioned, ‘You (government) were not there when people had to help. Even when they need help, you are not there. What type of government is this?’ The Congress leader claimed, ‘Gujarat’s government says that 10 thousand people died due to Kovid. We sent Congress workers door-to-door to know that about three lakh people have died in Gujarat due to Kovid. In Gujarat with the ‘Gujarat model’, Rs 50,000 each is being given to the families of only 10 thousand people, while the families of three lakh dead should get more money.
Targeting the Prime Minister, he said, ‘The Prime Minister has Rs 8500 crore to buy an airplane for himself, but there is no money for the families of those who died due to Kovid.’ Rahul Gandhi alleged, “At the time of Kovid, some industrialists were given money, their taxes were waived off. Whole of India is being given to two-three industrialists but the poor people are not being given the compensation for Kovid. He said, ‘The Congress party has two demands – the exact figures of the Kovid dead should be given, the families who have lost their loved ones to Kovid should be given compensation of four lakh rupees each. The government will have to give Rs 4 lakh to the families of the victims. We will keep this work done by putting full pressure on the government.
In fact, in September, the central government told the Supreme Court that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has recommended an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each to the kin of those who lost their lives due to Kovid-19. The Center had also said that ex-gratia amount would also be given to the families of those who lost their lives due to infection due to being involved in Kovid-19 relief work or indulging in preparedness activities to deal with the epidemic.
