Chandigarh
Infighting continues in the ruling Congress in Punjab. The opposing factions of CM Amarinder Singh are getting issues one after the other against him. In this, the latest controversy has also been added to give government jobs to sons of two MLAs. Along with the opposition parties Aam Aadmi Party and Akali Dal, the Captain is also the target of his party in this matter.

In fact, Arjun Bajwa, son of MLA Fatehganj Bajwa and Bhishma Pandey, son of MLA Rakesh Pandey, were given the approval for the posts of Inspector in Punjab Police and Naib Tehsildar in Revenue Department respectively. On this, not only the opposition in Punjab but also many Congress ministers and MLAs came out against their government. On behalf of the social media, the party and the opposition, the Captain government is getting embarrassed for giving jobs to the sons on compassionate grounds.

What clarification did Amarinder Singh give?
While justifying his decision, Amarinder said that it is in honor of the sacrifices made by his grandfather for the country. Amarinder further said, “Arjun Bajwa is the grandson of former Punjab minister Satnam Singh Bajwa who laid down his life for peace in the state in 1987. Bhishma Pandey is the grandson of Joginder Pal Pandey who was assassinated by terrorists in 1987. He said that those who made sacrifices for the country can neither be forgotten nor should they ever be forgotten.

Questions are being raised on Amarinder’s decision
After this statement of CM Amarinder, the families of Kargil martyrs and those who lost their lives in the line of duty in the army have come forward. The question of those opposing this decision of the Punjab government is that how can the government distribute that job on the basis of compassion to the sons of an MLA, for which the youth have to wait for a long time even after spending blood and sweat. Let us know what is the provision of getting a job in a normal way-

How much effort for the job of Naib Tehsildar?
First of all, Bhishma Pandey, son of MLA Rakesh Pandey, was approved by the Amarinder government for the post of Naib Tehsildar. The recruitment of this post is done through Punjab Public Service Commission. Naib Tehsildar is an administrative post located at the Tehsil level under the Revenue Department of the State Government.
Candidates applying for the post of Naib Tehsildar must have passed graduation.
The age of the candidates applying under the recruitment process should not be less than 21 years and not more than 37 years.
-Candidates are selected through Civil Services Examination. The state civil service exam is conducted in three phases. The first is the preliminary exam, the second is the mains and the third and last round is of interview.

No provision of direct inspector job
The Amarinder government has approved Arjun Bajwa, the son of MLA Fatehganj Bajwa, for the job of Inspector in Punjab Police. This is a Group B job and there is no provision of direct job of anyone in the police department to the post of Inspector. As per the rules of Punjab Police, such posts are filled through promotion. Whereas the constable and sub inspector level jobs are under open recruitment.

In 2017 also there was criticism on a similar decision
Amarinder Singh faced similar criticism in 2017 when he appointed Gur Iqbal Singh, the grandson of former CM Beant Singh, to the post of DSP. At that time this decision of the government was also challenged in the High Court. According to a decision of the Supreme Court in 1994, the economic condition also has to be examined before giving a job on compassionate grounds. However, the background of both Arjun and Bhishna suggests that they come from a financially prosperous and politically powerful family.
