The command of monitoring the investigation in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case of UP has been handed over to retired Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain of the Punjab-Haryana High Court. After the order of the Supreme Court, retired Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain will monitor the investigation in the Lakhimpur Kheri case on a daily basis. Apart from this, three IPS officers have been included in the SIT formed to investigate the Kheri violence.

The Supreme Court said that the next hearing of the case will take place only after the chargesheet is filed and the report submitted by Justice Jain. The Supreme Court has reconstituted the SIT with three senior IPS officers SB Shirodkar, Padmaja Chauhan and Deepender Singh.

Yogi government will give compensation to the families of the victims

During the hearing in the Supreme Court regarding the Kheri violence, the UP government told that it is giving compensation to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. The government also said that those people who were accused of driving the vehicle have also died after being beaten up. However, no decision has been taken regarding the help of their families.

Significantly, during the last hearing, the Supreme Court had reprimanded the UP government, saying that it was not satisfied with the report presented in the matter. In the same hearing, the Supreme Court had suggested a retired judge of the Punjab-Haryana High Court to oversee the investigation of the case.

What is the whole matter?
On October 3, a car of BJP supporters rammed into the farmers’ agitation in Lakhimpur Kheri. Four farmers and a journalist were killed in this incident. In the violence that erupted from the incident, three people were beaten to death. So far, 13 people have been arrested by the police in the case, including Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra. Ashish Mishra’s bail plea has been rejected on Monday.
