Promperú and TFO Canada will promote export development of SMEs led by women | News
The Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism in Peru (Promperú) and the Trade Facilitation Office with Canada (TFO Canada) signed a technical cooperation agreement that will allow the development of the Women in Trade for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable, whose purpose is to strengthen the capacities and internationalization of more than 100 Peruvian companies in the agribusiness sector, including those led by women.
This initiative is carried out with financial support from the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
The execution of the project will involve the contribution of technical resources for a total of 327,598 Canadian dollars (more than 259,759 American dollars), with a development horizon for the next three years.
Likewise, selected small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will participate in trade fairs SIAL 2022 and CPMA 2023, as well as a virtual trade mission that will allow them to promote their products in the Canadian market.
This project seeks to promote a more equitable participation of women in decision-making and leadership of institutions linked to the export process. Likewise, Promperú’s strategy aims to strengthen the capacities of exporting companies in the prioritized subsectors that wish to do business and generate commercial allies in the Canadian market.

With the mission of improving lives through the creation of sustainable trade partnerships for exporters from developing countries with Canadian and foreign buyers, our initiative aligns well with the need to promote more inclusive trade between our two countries, ”said the director. TFO Canada Executive Steven Tipman.
In this sense, and in accordance with the gender equality and social inclusion policy promoted by the Peruvian Government, the selection of companies led by Peruvians is aimed at, and this process will have the financial support of Global Affairs Canada, which will allow it to expand and strengthen the commercial frontiers of a vital sector in the development of the country.
The project Women in Trade for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth It is aimed at the agri-food sector (specialty coffees, processed foods and fresh fruits and vegetables), in order to counteract the challenges experienced by businesswomen when training and promoting their participation in foreign trade.
