NHAI mandates monthly video recording of projects by drones

New Delhi, Jun 16 (PTI) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made monthly video recording from drones mandatory for all phases of development, construction, operation and maintenance of national projects.

NHAI said in a statement on Wednesday that the contractors will have to do video recording from the drone in the presence of the team head of the Supervising Consultant. They will also have to upload the current and previous month’s comparative project videos on the NHAI portal ‘Data Lake’.

It said that supervising consultants will review these videos and provide advice on digital progress reports related to project development.

According to NHAI the Project Director of NHAI will conduct monthly drone surveys from the date of signing of the contract to the start of construction of the project at site and till the completion of the project.

NHAI will also conduct monthly drone surveys of all developed projects where NHAI is responsible for operation and maintenance. All these videos will be kept in the data lake and will also be used as evidence during dispute resolution process before arbitral tribunals and courts.

It has also mandated deployment of Network Survey Vehicles (NSVs) for survey of road conditions on National Highways to enhance the quality.
