NGT forms three-member committee to assess the risks of Naira Energy’s expansion

New Delhi, Jun 11 (PTI) The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has constituted a three-member committee to assess the risks associated with the expansion of Naira Energy’s oil refinery. This refinery, owned by the Russian company Rosneft, is located in Gujarat. The committee will suggest some remedial measures after assessing the risks associated with the expansion of the refinery.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel, while denying interference in the matter of environmental clearance, asked Naira Energy to ensure that all necessary safeguards are adopted and the conditions of environmental clearance are complied with.

The bench also includes Justice M Satyanarayana.

The bench said that while applying the precautionary principles, we are constituting a three-member committee of Chief Wildlife Warden, Gujarat, Director of Marine National Park and State PCB. This committee will suggest measures after assessing the risks associated with the expansion of the project.

The bench said that the committee can recommend safety measures to avoid accidents due to operation of activities.
