New record of nifty at all-time high with sensex jump 476 points
The BSE 30-share Sensex closed at 58,723.20, up 476.11 points or 0.82 per cent. This is its new record. The Sensex also touched its new all-time high of 58,777.06 points during the day’s trading.
Similarly, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange rose 139.45 points or 0.80 percent to reach 17,519.45. This is also a new record for Nifty. During the day’s trading, the Nifty rose to its all-time high of 17,532.70 points.
Among the Sensex companies, NTPC’s stock rose the most by seven per cent. Shares of Bharti Airtel, Titan, HCL Tech, SBI, PowerGrid, TCS and Axis Bank were also gainers.
On the other hand, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finance and Nestle India declined.
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a relief package for the telecom sector. Under this, a four-year exemption has been given to telecom companies for payment of statutory dues. Apart from this, 100% FDI has been allowed in the sector under the automatic route.
Along with this, the Cabinet has also approved a Production Based Incentive (PLI) scheme of Rs 26,058 crore for the automobile, auto component sector and drone industry.
In other Asian markets, China’s Shanghai Composite, Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng lost. On the other hand, South Korea’s Kospi remained in profit. European markets were mixed in afternoon trade.
Meanwhile, international benchmark Brent crude oil rose 1.05 per cent to USD 74.37 per barrel.
