IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal took charge of the post of director of the country’s top investigative agency CBI on Wednesday. Jaiswal, a 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Maharashtra cadre, was till now the director general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He has also been the Director General of Police of Maharashtra. CBI director Rishi Kumar Shukla’s two-year term ended on February 3. Since then the agency was functioning without a regular head.
What has been the background?
Subodh Kumar Jaiswal was born on 22 September 1962. He did his schooling at Dinobili School in Dhanbad. At the age of 23, he became an IPS officer. On the basis of his ability, Jaiswal was selected for several important operations in the country’s intelligence agency RAW. In this, he performed his work in a much better way. For Roth, he carried out many successful operations outside the country.
Name stamped on Monday
On Monday, a high-level committee constituted for the selection of the new director of CBI was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from the Prime Minister, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramanna were also included in this committee. Subodh’s name was stamped in this meeting.
