The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has introduced a bill in the Assembly against NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) for medical entrance. Through this bill, the state government will demand permanent exemption from NEET examination. The matter has gained momentum after the 19-year-old boy committed suicide a day earlier.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said, ‘I have moved a bill against NEET today. I request the opposition parties including AIADMK to support this bill. On the other hand, the opposition AIADMK staged a walkout from the house blaming the DMK. However, he supported the bill against NEET.

AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu CM E. Palanisamy said, “Students and their parents were completely confused about the NEET exam being conducted here. There was no clear stand on NEET from the DMK government. Yesterday a student committed suicide. DMK is responsible for this. The DMK government had said that the NEET exam should be scrapped, due to which the students did not prepare properly. We have decided to hold a walkout in protest. We will support the bill against NEET.

Dhanush, 19, a resident of Kozhaiyur village in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district, committed suicide on Sunday, hours before the NEET exam for medical. He was about to appear in this exam for the third time. “The boy’s mother found him hanging in the house at around 3.45 am and after that the family informed us,” the police officer said.
