Data from the National Family Health Survey 5 also shows that married women are now actively participating in three major household decisions. These include making health facilities for yourself, making major home purchase decisions and visiting your family or relatives.

Increased role in rural areas as well

According to NFSH-5 data, 91 per cent of women in urban areas are taking active part in such decisions, while in rural areas, women account for 87.7 per cent of these decisions. In 2015-16, the share of women in making major household decisions was about 84 per cent. The active participation of women in these three big cases across the country has now increased to 88.7 percent.

property ownership share

If we talk about the ownership of property, then the share of women in it is very less. In 2015-16, the number of properties in the name of women was 38.4 per cent, which has now increased to 43.3%.
