The young environmental volunteers of the Bicentennial “are the ones who will take better care of nature,” said the Minister of the Environment, Rubén Ramírez, in a meeting with the Loreto group, who presented their concerns and proposals to make changes to address environmental problems of this region and the country.
“The youth of the Bicentennial are our allies for conservation. They are important because they transfer the environmental education they receive to their homes and, in addition, they take care of our planet ”, highlighted the head of the sector.
Minister Ramírez proposed that environmental education should be expanded in the school curriculum from the earliest educational levels. “In Peru, environmental education is essential at all educational levels and in all professional and technical careers,” he said.
He added that in this way it will be possible to have more citizens with an environmental and sustainable approach.
For his part, the Vice Minister of Environmental Management, Mariano Castro, highlighted the committed work of the environmental youth of the Loreto Bicentennial, “because they have contributed to the proposals for change that more than 8,000 young people in the country have reaffirmed through commitments for the improvement of the environmental performance of Peru ”.
On the other hand, the Vice Minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources, Alfredo Mamani, said that climate change is a priority, so environmental youth “have a great duty” and play a preponderant role in educating citizens in that regard. theme.
During the meeting, the participants made known their initiatives that they have been deploying in the Loreto region in favor of the environment.
The environmental youth vision of Peru since the Bicentennial represents the aspiration of the youth of Peru regarding the environmental situation of their territories. It presents their aspirations and commitments regarding the environmental situation they want in their respective territories.
This year, the program of the Ministry of the Environment managed to summon more than 8,000 young people from the 25 regions of the country. Of that group, more than 70% are women.
