michael holding on ollie robinson: ollie robinson ko suspend karne ka faisla sahi bole
- England fast bowler Olly Robinson suspended for his controversial tweets eight years old
- West Indies great fast bowler Michael Holding told Robinson’s suspension to be correct till the investigation is completed
- Holding had said that the ECB should see the old social media posts of the player before the selection.
Former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding has supported the decision to suspend Ollie Robinson. The fast bowler has been suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for his racist and sexist tweets in the past.
Holding said the ECB’s decision to investigate the matter would help to rectify the work environment and prevent unnecessary impact on Robinson’s life by expediting the matter.
Robinson, who started his career with a Test match against New Zealand, was suspended due to tweets made eight years ago. His tweets started going viral before the debut against England. After this he had to face a lot of criticism. Due to this controversy, his performance was ignored. Along with taking seven wickets in the match, he also played an important innings of 42 runs with the bat.
I don’t think he will be suspended for long. They should investigate this matter quickly because its impact is going to be huge. This will affect his life. Not only on cricket life but also on normal life.
Holding said the investigation would be important because it would have implications beyond Robinson’s career.
“I think the ECB has done the right thing by suspending him and deciding to investigate the matter,” Holding told Sky Sports on Tuesday. He said, ‘I don’t think he will be suspended for long. They should investigate this matter quickly because its impact is going to be huge. This will affect his life. Not only on cricket life but also on normal life.
He added, ‘I hope the ECB does a good job and settles it quickly. I have seen in other workplaces that if there is any dispute with people, they are suspended till the investigation is over. If he is proved innocent then he comes back to the job and if not then further action is taken.
Michael Holding has been one of the loudest voices against racism. He recently made a passionate appeal to the ECB to play a greater role in campaigning for social justice. Apart from this, Holding had recently said that the ECB should also start looking at old social media posts of players before team selection.
