Till Sunday, more than 74 crore doses of corona vaccine have been given in the country. All adults in Sikkim, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Ladakh and Lakshadweep have been given at least one dose of anti-COVID-19 vaccines. The Union Health Ministry gave this information.
According to the data obtained from the Co-Vin portal, about 50,25,159 doses of vaccines were given till 8 pm on Sunday. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s office tweeted, “Congratulations to all these states and union territories for providing the first dose of anti-COVID-19 vaccine to 100% of the adult population. The dedication and commitment of health workers in these areas is especially commendable.
Along with this tweet, the office of the Union Health Ministry also shared a chart showing Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu (6.26 lakh doses), Goa (11.83 lakh doses), Ladakh (1.97 lakh doses) and Sikkim (5.10 lakh doses). Various states are mentioned. In these states and union territories, the first dose of vaccine has been given to 100% of the eligible population.
The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16, in which health workers were vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline personnel started from February 2. The next phase of the Kovid-19 vaccination campaign began on March 1 with vaccination for people above 60 years of age and people aged 45 years and above with severe disease.
The country started vaccination for all people over the age of 45 from April 1. The government then decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated from May 1. The Ministry said that the vaccination campaign is regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from Kovid-19.
