manchester test controversy: salman butt ne ecb par lagaya aarop: salman butt accuses ECB
- Salman Butt said England board is not worried about WTC scores
- Butt said that the ECB went to the ICC for an amount of 40 million pounds
- Manchester Test insurance amounted to around £40 million
- India and England’s Manchester Test canceled due to Kovid cases
Salman Butt has made a big allegation on the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The former Pakistan captain says that the ECB got embroiled in a dispute with the BCCI over the cancellation of the fifth Test only to recover the damages of £ 40 million from insurance. According to Butt, the England board does not care about the points of the match or the World Test Championship.
This statement of the former Pakistan opener comes after the recent discussions in which it was said that the ECB has appealed to the ICC to take a decision on the canceled Test match against India. The ECB wanted an opinion from the apex body of cricket as to what could be the reason for the match being considered cancelled.
The ECB is actually worried about 40 million pounds (about 410 crore Indian rupees). He is only concerned with the claim of insurance and has not even mentioned the match in his request.
The ECB had earlier said that since the Indian team withdrew from playing the match, the hosts should be considered the winner. However, he later withdrew his feet from it. No final decision has been taken on what the result of the series was. If ICC considers India back in this, then the series will be level at 2-2 or else India will capture the series 2-1.
Salman Butt shared his opinion on this issue on his YouTube channel. He said, ‘The ECB is really worried about 40 million pounds (about 410 crore Indian rupees). He is only concerned with the claim of insurance and has not even mentioned the match in his request. All he has written is that if the ICC writes that the match has been canceled due to India’s withdrawal, then we will get the insurance money. He is not saying, ‘Play matches for God, points are very important. We don’t want to lose this series but level it at 2-2. He has not written anything like this.
The ECB has written in its letter that Indian players were found to be negative from Kovid-19 and despite this they refused to play the Manchester Test due to IPL. Meanwhile, the BCCI has offered to the ECB that when the Indian team tours England next year, it will play two more T20 International matches besides completing the Test.
Butt said that the matter reached the ICC because the ECB could not negotiate with the BCCI. Butt also said that it will not be so easy for the ICC to take a decision on this as both the teams have their own arguments.
