Earlier on May 16, the lockdown deadline was extended to May 23.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also announced withdrawal of the triple lockdown measures implemented from May 16 in three districts – Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Thrissur. However, “triple lockdown” will continue in Malappuram district.

Number of deaths not stopping in Kerala
Kerala is witnessing a huge increase of cases and deaths during the second wave of corona virus epidemic. In the last 24 hours, more than 30 thousand new cases have been reported here. So far, more than six thousand people have died in the entire state. About 23 lakh corona cases have been reported so far in Kerala. During seven to 20 May, 1224 people have died here in 14 days. During this period, 4 lakh 77 thousand 563 new cases were revealed.
