Chandigarh, June 10 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 1,170 crore in the state. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state government is committed to ensure equitable development.

Reiterating the commitment of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, he said that the development projects are related to education, health, sports, strengthening of road connectivity, water and power sector.

He inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 98 projects in 16 districts including Karnal, Panchkula, Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Jind, Faridabad, Sonipat, Hisar and Rohtak at a state-level program organized through video conference here.

These included the inauguration of development projects worth over Rs 200 crore and laying of foundation stones for other projects worth about Rs 900 crore, an official statement said here.

During this, the Chief Minister said that in the last seven years, the BJP-led government has ensured equitable development in all the 90 assembly constituencies of the state, believing in the mantra of ‘Haryana Ek, Haryanavi Ek’.

On this occasion, Khattar appealed to the farmers of the state to pay attention to water conservation and said that ‘Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana’ was launched in the state last year. This scheme has been started to encourage farmers to adopt diversification of crops to conserve ground water. The ground water level in the state is continuously going down.

Under this scheme, an appeal has been made to the farmers of the state to grow other crops instead of paddy which is more water-consuming. He rejected the allegations of the opposition that the state government was shutting down the connections of the tubewells of the farmers. The state government has taken several steps for proper water facility for irrigation.
