IRSDC seeks RFQ for redevelopment of Surat, Udhna stations

Ahmedabad, Jul 25 (PTI) The Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) has sought eligibility request (RFQ) for change in Surat and Udhna stations of Gujarat. The nodal agency has named it ‘Railpolis’ or mini smart city where one can live, work, play and travel.

The IRSDC said in a statement that its objective is to develop these stations as “integrated railway stations and sub-central business hubs and to transform the station’s wealth and surrounding areas under the principles of transit based development and smart city”.

The newly developed Surat railway station will also have a central concourse and a provision for pedestrian access, the statement said. This will provide seamless connectivity to the commuters to railway platforms, state and city bus terminals, proposed metro rail, parking and other areas.

Similarly, redevelopment of Udhna railway station will be done with better connectivity. Along with this, a concourse will be made for the passengers exiting from here.

The cost of redevelopment of these two stations is estimated to be around Rs 1,285 crore. The redevelopment of railway stations will be completed in four years.
