New York, May 26 (PTI) A vigilant driver of Indian origin in America put his train brakes on time to save an Asian man who was pushed back on track under a hate crime.

According to media reports, the incident took place on Monday when 29-year-old train driver Tobin Madathil immediately put the emergency brakes on the train after seeing an Asian man pushed on the track and the train stopped about 30 feet from the victim.

Madathil told the New York Post, “I am glad that I stopped the train in time and it did not hit the victim.” Thank God.

Reports said that a few minutes before the train was stopped, an eccentric man pushed an Asian man on derailment under a hate crime.

Madathil said that he got out of his train and reached the victim whose blood was coming out of his forehead. He then informed the concerned authorities about this.

The victim was given treatment at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

The police is investigating the matter.

Madathil said that whenever he is driving the train, he is always alert and his eyes are on the track and the platform.
