Speaking to NBT soon after the formation of the new government in Germany, J Lindner said that a change of leadership in Germany at the diplomatic level will not affect the relationship with India. Germany’s new chancellor, Olaf Schultz, has been appointed to replace current chief Angela Merkel. Lindner said Merkel had accompanied her successor to the Glasgow summit. This is a sign of Germany’s strong democracy. He said that after assuming office in the first week of December, he may meet Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi at the earliest.

Regarding the situation arising out of Kovid and the problems being faced in the movement of people, the diplomatic official of Germany said that every year 3 lakh people come from their country as tourists.
