inderjeet singh statement on congress: inderjit singh grandson of giani zail singh said join bjp
Former President Giani Zail Singh’s grandson Inderjit Singh has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri got him the membership of the party at the BJP headquarters in the capital. BJP general secretary and Punjab in-charge Dushyant Gautam, party’s in-charge of media department and Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni and national spokesperson RP Singh were also present on the occasion.
After joining BJP, Inderjit Singh said that after a long time, today the wish of his grandfather Giani Zail Singh has been fulfilled. “The way Congress treated him, hurt his heart, what stitched his loyalty… you all know,” he said. He said that whatever responsibility the party gives him, he will try his best to fulfill it.
On the occasion, Puri targeted the Congress, referring to the ongoing power tussle between Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and state Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. He alleged that the Punjab government was not implementing many important schemes of the central government. He said, ‘Be it housing scheme or Ayushman scheme, I do not understand why the state government is not implementing them.’ Welcoming Inderjit Singh to the BJP, Puri said he was overjoyed when he came to know that he was joining the BJP.
Giani Zail Singh was the seventh President of the country. Before reaching this post, he had also served as MLA, Minister, MP, Chief Minister and Union Minister. He was born in the Faridkot district of Punjab.
Assembly elections are due in Punjab next year. After the Shiromani Akali Dal broke the alliance with the BJP, this time there is a possibility of a quadrangular contest. BJP will go it alone this time while Shiromani Akali Dal has tied up with Bahujan Samaj Party to challenge the ruling Congress. The Aam Aadmi Party is also firmly establishing its roots in the state.
