The ICC said in its statement, ‘The hosts have been selected through a competitive bidding. It was selected by a sub-committee. This included New Zealand Cricket Chairman Martin Sneddon, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt.
Tax relief for BCCI
In another big case, BCCI has got a big relief from the ICC. The ICC has agreed to bear the tax burden of the Indian board. The board will not get 10 percent tax exemption on the event from the government. The ICC will bear the loss arising out of the conduct of all three ICC events.
According to the news of Times of India, this will save BCCI at least 200 million i.e. 1500 crore rupees. About $100 million (Rs 750 crore) to the board from organizing the 2026 T20 World Cup and 2023 50-over World Cup. This loss would have increased to $150 million if the recent T20 World Cup had taken place in India instead of the UAE.
