However, young Lakshya Sen lost in the men’s singles pair of Dhruv Kapila and N Sikki Reddy in mixed doubles. Lakshya, who recently made the semi-finals of the Highlo Open Super 500 tournament and the final of the Dutch Open, went down 13-21 19-21 to top seed and two-time world champion Kento Momota of Japan in 46 minutes.

Kapila and Sikki suffered a three-game 15-21 23-21 18-21 loss to Thailand pair of Supak Jomkoh and Supisara Pewsampran in a tough second round mixed doubles match.

Women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy were also disappointed. The Indian pair went down 18-21 12-21 in straight games to third seed Jongkolphan Kititharkul and Ravinda Prajongzai.
