Himachal Pradesh’s natural farming became a lesson for foreigners as well
Carol Durand, 28, from Avron, France, said that if we want to live in a natural way, then non-chemical farming is a great option.
Durand has come to Himachal Pradesh to learn about low-cost natural farming techniques under the state government’s Pratikriti Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana (PK3Y). This scheme is being implemented for the last three years.
This technique developed by Padma Shri awardee Subhash Palekar has been named Subhash Palekar Natural Farming (SPNF) technique in the state.
A state official said that 1,33,056 farmers have partially or fully adopted this technique after training conducted by the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), PK3Y. Under this, cultivation is being done on 7,609 hectares.
