Several parts of India may receive rain with thunderstorms over the next 3-4 days. The Ministry of Earth Sciences said that there is a possibility of lightning, hailstorm and thunderstorm at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Telangana. Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Lakshadweep are likely to receive heavy rainfall on May 13.

On May 16, there may be heavy rains in coastal and south interior Karnataka

There is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and thunderstorms (reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph) at different places in central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep on May 15 . Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at coastal and south interior Karnataka on 16 May, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep and Konkan, Goa and Telangana. Due to rain, there is a possibility of rain at different places.

Minister of State for Home Pradeep Singh Jadeja told reporters in Gandhinagar, “In view of the possible cyclone, named as Toukte cyclone, the Chief Minister has given necessary instructions to the officers.” It will affect Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat, in such a situation, the Chief Minister has directed the administration to take all necessary steps for the safety of the people. “The revenue department of the state has also directed all the concerned district magistrates to take steps as per Kovid-19 rules,” he said. The Chief Minister has asked the officials of the coastal districts to be vigilant in view of the meteorological department’s estimates. The Meteorological Department said that on the morning of May 14, a low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Arabian Sea and is likely to move north-northwestwards and towards Lakshadweep in the southeast Arabian Sea. According to him, a cyclone could hit the east-central Arabian Sea on 16 May.
