He said this at the two-day BRICS Green Hydrogen Summit organized ‘online’ by public sector power company NTPC.
NTPC said in a statement quoting Kumar, “The government and the industry need to work together to ensure that rules and regulations do not create unnecessary hurdles in the way of investment.”
He said that trade would benefit from common international standards for safe transportation and storage of large quantities of hydrogen and appropriate certificates of origin.
The Secretary said that BRICS countries can work together on these aspects.
Kumar said, “India has launched an ambitious National Hydrogen Mission to produce green hydrogen in a competitive manner. Under this, procurement of green hydrogen will be mandatory for fertilizers/refineries belonging to the private sector.
Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC said, “The five BRICS countries share a common vision of sustainable development and inclusive economic growth. Strengthening energy cooperation and ensuring affordable, reliable, accessible and safe energy for all has always been an important strategic area on the agenda of BRICS countries.
BRICS countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
