A case of running a fake RTPCR certificate racket has come to light in Puri, Odisha. The police have arrested 12 people by registering an FIR. They are accused of providing fake certificates to people to enter the Jagannath temple. Police said that within a fortnight, two such cases have been registered in the city at Singhdwar police station and another at Kumbharpada police station.

The investigation was initiated after information about some devotees trying to enter the temple by showing fake RTPCR certificates. The four accused were arrested by Singhdwar police station, police said. Of these, two are from Madhya Pradesh and the rest from Puri town. Another accused is absconding. At the same time, the Kumbharpada police station arrested three accused, including a devotee, who used fake RTPCR certificates.

At the same time, in the third case, the Sindhdwar police station arrested five accused including a devotee. It is mandatory to produce a COVID-19 negative RTPCR certificate or Final Certificate of Vaccination within 96 hours of your journey to enter the Lord Jagannath Temple. It is noteworthy that without RTPCR certificate, devotees are not allowed to enter many places of pilgrimage in the country.
