Under the title Históricas: Precursors of equality in the 20th century, the contributions of pioneer women who fought the first battles for gender equality in Peru, a unique exhibition is presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Lima – MET.

This exhibition, curated by the communicator and master in visual anthropology Karen Bernedo, is a tribute to those women who laid the foundations for our full citizenships and an opportunity to reflect on the challenges in the struggle for gender equality in the framework of the two hundred years of our independence.

Through photographs, archival newspaper clippings, historical documents and other graphic resources, the long road traveled by women such as Teresa González de Fanning, María Trinidad Enríquez, Miguelina Acosta, María Jesús Alvarado, Julia Codesido, among others, in search of the recognition of fundamental rights: education, work and participation in political, cultural and public life in the country, among others.

The public will be able to access the sample Historical: Forerunners of Equality in the 20th Century free of charge until December 16, prior reservation and according to the visiting hours established by the Metropolitan Museum of Lima.
