excise duty on petrol-diesel reduced: Center cuts excise duty on petrol by ₹5, diesel by ₹10: bjp welcomes excise duty cut on petrol-diesel Congress said- the effect of ‘vote injury’
Both the ruling party and the opposition reacted in their own way to the reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel. BJP welcomed this decision of the central government. He called it a Diwali gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP President JP Nadda said that this decision will increase consumption and help in keeping inflation down.
Nadda tweeted, ‘I thank the government of Narendra Modi ji for reducing the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively from tomorrow on the eve of Diwali. The reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel will also boost consumption and keep the rate of inflation low, thus helping the poor and middle class. At the same time, BJP chief spokesperson Anil Baluni said that Modi has given a wonderful gift on Diwali.
Congress took a jibe
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted, “Congratulations to the countrymen for teaching a lesson to the TaxGV Modi government. In democracy, BJP has been shown the mirror of truth by the “hurt of votes”.
He questioned, ‘Recall that in May 2014, when petrol was Rs 71.41 and diesel Rs 55.49 per liter, then crude oil was $105.71 per barrel. Today crude oil is $82 a barrel. When will the price be equal to 2014?’
Surjewala asserted, “During the Congress government (UPA government), the excise duty on petrol was Rs 9.48 per liter and that on diesel was Rs 3.56 per litre. Excise duty on petrol under Modi government was Rs 32.90 per liter which has increased to Rs 27.90 per liter today. Similarly, excise duty on diesel was Rs 31.80 per liter which is now Rs 21.80 per litre. Modi ji, the jumla nahi chalenge, whatever you increased, decreased all that.’
He said, ‘Dear countrymen, understand the rhetoric of Modinomics! This year in 2021, the price of petrol was increased by Rs 28 and that of diesel by Rs 26. After losing the by-elections in 14 seats in the country, the reduction in the rate of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively has also become the gift of the Prime Minister for Diwali? Oh Ram! It’s the height of.’
