DoT approve 5G test of companies, Chinese technology not used in testing – dot approve 5g test, chinese technology not used in testing

New Delhi May 4 (Language) The Department of Telecommunications on Tuesday approved the applications of telecom companies for the 5G test. However, no company is using Chinese technology in this.

The Department of Telecommunications has approved the applications of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and MTNL for this. None of these companies are using the technology of Chinese companies.

Telecom Impact Secretary Anshu Prakash told PTI-language, “These tests will reduce the time difference between 5G spectrum auction and network restore. Earlier, the auction was followed by testing. This time you will get the benefit of time and telecom operators will be ready for 5G network in advance. This will enable operators to select their vendors, types of technology and equipment. ”

He said, “Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will conduct a separate test and their application will come soon.”

A telecom department official said that the options given by the telecom operators have been approved by the department. Vodafone Idea’s proposal to conduct the trial in partnership with Mavenir is currently being reviewed and will be decided on now. Vodafone Idea had submitted three applications for examination.

He did not reply to an email sent to Huawei in this regard.

5G technology is capable of delivering ten times better download speeds than 4G and up to three times better in spectrum capacity as per telecom coverage.

The list of telecom gear manufacturers approved by the Department of Telecommunications for 5G testing includes indigenously developed technologies of Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, C-Dot and Reliance Jio. This means that Chinese companies will not be part of the 5G trials.

The Department said in a statement, “The Department of Telecommunications has allowed companies providing telecom services to test the use of 5G technology. This includes Bharti Airtel, Reliance JioinfoCom Limited, Vodafone Idea India Limited and MTNL.

Earlier, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone had proposed to test using the technology of Huawei company of China. Later, however, he said in his application that he would not use the technology of any Chinese company in the 5G test.

“These telecom service providers have tied up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers such as Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-Dot,” the department said. While Reliance JioinfoCom Limited will do this test using its own 5G technology. ”

This move by the Department of Telecommunications indicates that the central government can prevent Chinese companies from participating in 5G telecom services to be started in the country.

The statement said that telecom companies have been allowed to use the experimental spectrum in different bands. This includes the mid-band 3.2 GHz to 3.67 GHz, the millimeter wave band 24.25 GHz to 28.5 GHz, and the sub-GHz band to 700 GHz.

“Telecom operators will also be allowed to use their existing 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2500 MHz spectrum for conducting 5G trials,” the department said. The duration of the tests is currently six months. This includes a period of 2 months for the purchase and installation of the equipment. ”

Apart from this, it has been clearly stated in the permission letter that telecom companies will have to do 5G testing in rural and semi-urban areas including urban areas so that the benefits of 5G technology can be availed not only in cities but across the country.
