Donald Trump praises Indian PM
Washington: Former US President Donald Trump next week will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a rally in Michigan, Trump described Prime Minister Modi as a wonderful person. In the same rally, he described India as a ‘gross abuser’ of trade relations. He talked about a tariff war with the US and China. Donald Trump, the Republican candidate in the US presidential election, did not say where he is going to meet Prime Minister Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit America at the end of this week. Prime Minister Modi will attend the Quad Summit with US President Joe Biden, leaders of Australia and Japan in Delaware.
Several other leaders who have traveled to the US in recent months for meetings with Biden and other summits have also met with Donald Trump. Republican Trump is facing Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 presidential election. After President Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign, Democratic Party polls showed a tight race between Trump and Indian-born Harris.
Friendship between PM Modi and Trump
Washington sees New Delhi as an important ally in countering China’s growing influence in Asia, but Trump has been attacking India over trade. But, despite criticizing India on trade at Tuesday’s rally, he called Prime Minister Modi a wonderful person. Trump and Modi had a good friendship during their presidency. When Trump came to India in 2020, Prime Minister Modi held a big rally to welcome him in Ahmedabad. World’s largest cricket stadium was inaugurated at this time. People attending the rally wore ‘Namaste Trump’ caps to welcome the US President.
PM Modi also has a good relationship with Baddan
A year earlier, in 2019, Narendra Modi visited America. At this time, Trump participated in the ‘Howdy Modi’ rally in Texas. In the presence of more than 50,000 people in the rally, both the leaders praised each other from the stage. Prime Minister Modi also enjoys good relations with Democratic leaders like current President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama. Last year, during Biden’s tenure, Prime Minister Modi was given a red carpet welcome at the White House.
