corona vaccination program: Number of people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 surpasses those partially vaccinated

New Delhi
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday said that the number of people who have received a full dose of anti-Covid-19 vaccine has crossed the number of people taking a single dose for the first time in the country. He said that this achievement has been achieved because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’ and ‘Total Government Approach’, people’s faith in the government and ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign.

“The number of people who have received a full dose of vaccine for the first time has exceeded those who have received only one dose of vaccine, achieving a significant milestone in nationwide immunization coverage,” Mandaviya said in a statement.

According to the report received till 7 am on Wednesday, a total of 113.68 crore doses have been given in the country.

He said that this could be achieved through 1,16,73,459 vaccination sessions. Of these, 75,57,24,081 doses were given as first dose and 38,11,55,604 doses were given as second dose. The number of people who took both doses of vaccine (38,11,55,604) has exceeded the number of people who took the first dose (37,45,68,477).

He tweeted and appealed to all eligible citizens to get vaccinated. He said, ‘Together we will win the fight against Kovid-19.’

According to the statement, the Union Health Minister expressed confidence that by the end of the month-long ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign, the country will vaccinate every Indian.

Mandaviya said, “The strong political commitment of the Government of India to protect every citizen from COVID-19 through immunization has helped the nation-wide vaccination campaign achieve many milestones. The country achieved the distinction of giving 100 crore doses on October 21. After this the Prime Minister gave a clarion call and on November 3, the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign was launched so that every door is knocked and every house is reached and every citizen is vaccinated against COVID-19.

Health care workers across the country are vaccinating eligible people from door to door, with a special focus on districts with less than 50 per cent vaccination, the statement said.

The Union Health Minister also assured that there is no shortage of vaccines in the country and urged people to take second dose of vaccine and motivate people in their family and community to take both doses.
