Compulsory license for kovid vaccine not attractive option, technology transfer important: paul – compulsory license for kovid vaccine not attractive option technology transfer important paul

New Delhi, March 27 (Language) NITI Aayog member VK Paul said on Thursday that compulsory license for Kovid vaccine is not an attractive option. He said that because it is not a ‘formula’ that matters more, it is necessary to consider raw materials and human resource training as well.

Paul, president of the National Expert Group (NEGVAC) on vaccine management for Kovid-19, said technology transfer is important and is under the control of a company that has done research and development.

It is noteworthy that the government is facing criticism from various quarters over the lack of vaccines amid growing cases of Corona virus infection in the country.

“Compulsory licensing is not a very attractive option because it is not a ‘formula’ that matters. Rather active participation, training of human resources, raw material sourcing and high level bio-safety laboratories are required. ”

Paul said, “In fact, we have gone a step ahead of compulsory licensing and are ensuring active participation between Bharat Biotech and 3 other entities to increase production of covaxine. A similar arrangement is being made for Sputnik.

On the question of vaccination of children, he said, “As of now, no country in the world is giving vaccines to children.” Also, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not recommended any vaccination of children. ”

“There have been studies on vaccine safety in children, and this has been encouraging,” said Paul. Testing on children is going to start soon in India too. ”

However, he said that vaccination of children should not be decided on the basis of ‘panic’ being spread in WhatsApp groups and because some politicians want to do politics on it.

He said, “This decision has to be taken by our scientists only after adequate data is available on the basis of tests.”
