Naxals on Thursday released Rakesh Singh, a CRPF jawan who was abducted on April 3 during an encounter in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Upon hearing the news of Rakeshwar Singh’s release, his family breathed a sigh of relief. Speaking to ABP News, Rakeshwar Singh’s wife became very emotional while recalling the last few days. The last six days were the longest in her life, she said. “I never gave up hope of Rakeshwar Singh’s return and I was sure he would come back,” said Rakeshwar’s wife.

On April 3, Rakesh Singh Manhas was taken hostage by Naxals after attacking security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. During the clashes, 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured. The martyrs include 7 jawans of CRPF’s Cobra Battalion, 1 jawan of Bastaria Battalion of CRPF, 8 jawans of DRG and 6 jawans of STF.
