Coal India marching towards sustainable development: ministry of mines

New Delhi, Nov 25 (PTI) State-owned Coal India Limited (CIL) is moving quietly towards its sustainable development goals, the Mines Ministry has said.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said that CIL and its subsidiaries are contributing in providing basic amenities and improving the quality of life of its residents in the backward and remote areas of the country.

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a subsidiary of CIL, is helping to provide solar power in Purulia district of West Bengal. Apart from this, she is also providing other eco-friendly facilities and quality education to the local villagers. ECL operates coal mines in Purulia.

In view of its role in sustainable development in the field of coal mining, CIL has decided to develop 38 villages of Neturia block of Purulia as model villages.
