Chhattisgarh Naxalites attack 21 jawans still missing | Chhattisgarh
Raipur: In the Naxal-affected districts of Bijapur and Sukma in Chhattisgarh, Naxals on Saturday launched a surprise attack on security guards. Five security personnel were killed and 21 others were still missing in the three-hour-long clash. This information was given by Inspector General of Police OP Pal of the anti-Naxal operation in the state.
Twelve security personnel were injured in the attack. The body of a Naxalite woman was found at the spot, police said. On Friday night, a joint force of Cobra Battalion, DRG and STF of the Central Reserve Police Force launched an anti-Naxal operation in Bijapur and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh state.
About two thousand jawans joined this anti-Naxal campaign. At around 12 noon on Saturday, Naxals launched a surprise attack on security forces on the Bijapur-Sukma district border. The flicker lasted about three hours. The Naxals have also suffered heavy losses in this, the police said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief
After getting information about this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over it and said that the sacrifices of these soldiers will not be in vain. “My condolences are with the families of the soldiers who were martyred in the fight against the Maoists. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” he said in a message on social media.
