Chaman Lal Gupta Death: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta dies, PM Modi mourns – former union minister and bjp leader chaman lal gupta dies

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta died after prolonged illness at his residence in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. A few days ago Gupta became infected with Kovid-19 and returned home after successful treatment. Gupta was 87 years old. Gupta has two sons and a daughter in his family.

Anil Gupta, the elder son of Chaman Lal Gupta, said that Chaman was infected with the corona virus on May 5 and returned home from Narayan Hospital on Sunday after successful treatment. His condition suddenly deteriorated late at night and he breathed his last at 5.10 pm.

Condoling his death, PM Modi wrote in his tweet, ‘Chaman Lal Gupta will always be remembered for his work done for the society. He was a dedicated MLA and strengthened the BJP throughout Jammu and Kashmir. I am saddened by his demise. My condolences are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief.

Born on 13 April 1934
Chaman Lal Gupta was born on 13 April 1934 in Jammu. His health was not well for the last few years and he was suffering from many diseases. He first became a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in 1972. He was also elected a member of the Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2014. He was also the President of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP twice.

Chaman Lal was MP from Udhampur
Chaman Lal Gupta was elected from Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency of Jammu in 1996 and also won this seat in 1998 and 1999. Gupta was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation from 13 October 1999 to 1 September 2001. He was Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries from 1 September 2001 to 30 June 2002 and Minister of State for Defense from 1 July 2002 to 2004.

Lieutenant Governor also expressed grief
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to the late leader and said that he will always be remembered for his immense contribution towards the welfare of the people.
